I have to admit, there are times when I feel “I AM NOT ENOUGH.” This negative thinking steels my joy and sucks the life right out of me. I am naturally hard on myself, I have a tendency to be a perfectionist with my abilities, and at times don’t feel like I measure up to the successes of those around me. Maybe some of you can relate and struggle with similar battled thoughts and emotions. I think it’s a very common emotion among the female species.
Starting a blog has been a personal goal for myself, but at the same time a VERY painful process. I have allowed fear to get the best of me… fearful of not feeling “good enough”, fearful of rejection, fearful how others will perceive me , fearful of being vulnerable, fearful that my blog won’t be accepted on social media. (ugg that darn social media how we can let it determine our identity, this will be another topic at a later date!!) But I believe God is doing a good work in me. He wants me to FEAR NOT and BE COURAGEOUS. Inspire other women to reach into the depths of their own souls and heal the lie, “I Am Not Enough”. He wants me to be authentic and share my life lessons with friends like you. I want to thank a dear friend who actually gave me the will to start this blog. After a recent lunch date with flooded tears rolling down both our faces, I knew it was time to step out in faith. You see, she is a woman who has struggled immensely and needed HOPE for this day. Thankfully, I made myself available. Her very words to me were, “Julie you need to write and speak God’s messages to give women like me a source of HOPE.” Thank you friend, you know who you are!!! I think you ministered to me more than I ministered to you!!
Do you too get paralyzed by this thought, “I Am Not Enough”? Do you struggle with not feeling attractive enough, smart enough, accomplished enough, popular enough, successful enough, worthy enough? Do these thoughts hold you back? Why are we so shamed by these emotions and how do we conquer this shame that endlessly sends us into a tailspin?
First, we need to believe in our hearts God did not make a mistake in creating us. He has great purpose for you and I. He has knit us together uniquely and differently. We must celebrate our uniqueness instead of squelch it.
Psalm 139:13-14 “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful.”
If we don’t celebrate who God made us to be, we are lacking great respect for our Maker. Ouch I am sure this burdens His heart!!!
Second, we need to see and be confident in our value and worth, no matter who has told you or made you feel otherwise!!
Proverbs 3:15 “She is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.”
As our identity becomes secure in WHOSE we are (we are loved by God, designed with a unique purpose), we begin to live our lives certain of WHO we are. If we don’t live our lives understanding our true source of identity, we miss out on our life’s greater purpose.
Imagine the freedom of not living a life of shame, “I Am Not Enough”. No more comparing yourself, no more wishing you had different talents, no more jealousy of others. We can finally enjoy our journey in life!! Our souls are content, we can breathe without anxious thoughts , we are finally settled. We live our lives with full assurance…
“I Am Enough, Because He is Enough.”
